A man who Orange County deputies say, two years ago committed sexual battery on a college-aged female and bound another in the Auvers Village Apartments on Orange County’s east side, has been arrested.
Edgar Collazo, now 24, was booked into the Orange County Jail yesterday, on charges of armed sexual battery, two counts of kidnapping and one count of occupied burglary with a deadly weapon.
Deputies say, in the early morning hours of June 1, 2012, a masked man, now believed to be Collazo, broke into the Auvers Village Apartments, tied up one of the victims and sexually battered another.
While a large-scale investigation was conducted and DNA evidence collected, there was no arrest. But on May 14, earlier this year, Collazo was arrested by the Orlando Police Department for an attempted sexual battery.
Earlier this month, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement was able to positively link Collazo to the 2012 sexual battery, through a positive DNA match.
Deputies also say, through interviews with Collazo yesterday, it was revealed that he lived in the Auvers Village Apartments during the period that the sexual battery occurred.
Collazo was arrested and charged with one count of armed sexual battery, two counts of kidnapping and once count of occupied burglary with a deadly weapon. He was booked into the Orange County Jail on no bond.
