Man Arrested for Murder in Fatal Central Florida Shooting

A 19-year-old man was recently arrested for murder in a fatal Central Florida shooting.




On April 20th at 3:45am, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to reports of shots fired at an apartment complex located at 12401 Orange Grove Drive in Tampa. A male victim was located with multiple gunshot wounds and later pronounced deceased at AdventHealth Carrollwood Hospital.

Through investigative efforts, detectives identified 19-year-old Jesiah Deangelo-Cruz as the suspect. They obtained an arrest warrant for Deangelo-Cruz in connection to a domestic violence incident. He was charged with Armed Kidnapping, Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, and Battery (Second/Subsequent Offense). With the assistance of the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, he was located and arrested in Pasco County, Florida.

As the homicide investigation continued, detectives recovered additional evidence linking Deangelo-Cruz to the fatal shooting.

An arrest warrant was obtained charging him with Premeditated First-Degree Murder with a Firearm. Deangelo-Cruz was being held in Pasco County while awaiting extradition.




“This suspect made a devastating and violent choice that took an innocent life. Thanks to the determined efforts of our detectives, he is now charged and will face the full consequences of his actions,” said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister. “We hope this brings comfort to the victim’s loved ones, and we will continue working closely with our partners to ensure the suspect is held fully accountable.”

This remains an active investigation, according to local law enforcement.
