Man Arrested after Shooting in Central Florida Road Rage Incident

A 20-year-old man has been arrested after a shooting in a Central Florida road rage incident led to a man’s death.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man for Second-Degree Murder with a Firearm following a road rage incident in Riverview, near Tampa, on January 26, 2024.

20-year-old Jorge Ramirez was taken into custody in Brevard County by detectives with the assistance of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office on February 20, 2024. He was arrested without incident and will be transported to Orient Road Jail.

On January 16, 2024, at approximately 2:45 p.m., HCSO deputies responded to the corner of Rose Lane and Baytree Drive in Riverview. When deputies arrived, they discovered 34-year-old Bryan Proenza with multiple gunshot wounds.

Detectives immediately made contact with the shooter, who was outside his residence down the street from the incident.

While being transported to the hospital, Proenza succumbed to his injuries.

Ramirez was originally arrested in this incident and charged with three counts of Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon.

“Our detectives have worked diligently and left no stone unturned to ensure that this individual was held accountable for this senseless crime.” said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Road rage has no place in our community. Our hope is that the victim’s family can find peace knowing that justice will be served.”
