Life After High School

It’s never too early to start planning for a successful life after high school.

The Orange County Public Schools, and the Greater Orange County Transition Interagency Council is offering an informational Forum to update teachers, parents, and students with disabilities on issues related to transitioning into adulthood. Issues related to mild to severe disabilities will be addressed.

The Forum is similar to an open house where participants can gather information from participating agencies, groups, and businesses; but it will also be an opportunity for parents, students, and teachers to attend breakout sessions on key topics such as the schools role in transition, preparing for employment after high school, enrolling in vocational education, what to expect in college, what services are provided by VR and APD, and getting answers to your Social Security questions.

It’s a FREE event with representatives from over 25 agencies available to discuss the above topics and much more!

You may also visit our Interagency Website for more information at: www.gointeragency.com.

If you are a local agency, business, college, or group that provides transition related services or careers to students and young adults with disabilities and their families, then you are invited to attend. It is a great venue to showcase your agency, group, college or business, and answer questions that pertain to a student’s successful transition from school to adulthood. Past Forums have been well attended by students and their families as well as teaching professionals.

We are having our Spring Forum on Monday November April 29, 2013 at Freedom High School. The school is located at: 2500 Taft-Vineland Road, Orlando, Florida 32837. Set up will begin at 4:30 and the Forum will open its doors to parents, students, and teachers at 5:30 pm-8:00 pm.

Your participation can make a significant difference in the lives of students. If you are a business or community partner who would like to sign up to attend this event, please contact: Jennifer Monje at 407-245-0440 ext 647 or email her at [email protected].

We sincerely hope you can join us for our Spring Transition Forum!
