A man who pointed a green laser light at a Orange County Sheriff’s Office helicopter in the early morning hours of January 28th, has been arrested.
OCSO deputies said that around 2:00 am, today, they were informed by a OCSO helicopter that a green laser light was being pointed at the chopper for quite sometime, from the passenger in the front seat. Several patrols responded and were able to track down a silver Infiniti SUV traveling on the I-4, close to State Road 535. Upon exiting, detectives stopped the vehicle.
Rodrigo Azevedo, 19 years, the front seat passenger was questioned by detectives, but provided no answer as to if he had pointed the laser light at the helicopter. However, he subsequently removed the light from the vehicle’s glove compartment. Meanwhile, Roberta Busmao, Azevedo’s cousin sitting in the back of the vehicle, confirmed that he (Azevedo) was pointing the laser toward the helicopter in the sky.
