Orange County deputies said Monday, the human remains found last Friday in Ocoee, are those of an African-American female, with a small frame.

OCSO Investigator Dave Phelan and OSCO Captain Jason McMullen, who briefed the media confirmed that, the skeletal remains, are of an African-American female, between the ages of 20 -30 years, possibly missing within the last four months to one year.

McMullen displayed a heart-shaped pendant found with the skeletal remains, which he hopes would jog someone’s memory, leading to the identification of the victim.  He also said that, two items of clothing were also found  – a pair of size 7 jeans and a Tommy Hilfiger jacket – as well as a pearl earring.

Last Friday, a road crew from United Infrastructure Group, clearing the area for road expansion in the 8300 block of Hackney Prairie Road in Ocoee, found a human skull, and alerted deputies. The Homicide Unit and a Forensics team were called in to comb the area through Saturday.  McMullen said about 90 percent of the remains have been recovered.

Phelan declined to speculate on whether the woman was killed and so far, the case is not being treated as a homicide. He could not say either, whether the victim had been sexually assaulted or not.

On Saturday, the Medical Examiner definitely ruled out that the remains found were of Tracy Ocascio, a white female, who disappeared in 2009.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is appealing to the public who might know of anyone missing or anyone who recognizes the pendant to call the Sheriff’s Office or Crimeline at # 1-800-423-TIPS.
