HealthSouth to Build $24M Hospital in Greater Orlando

HealthSouth Corp. got the green light from the state to develop a $24 million physical rehabilitation hospital in greater Orlando. Ground will break in first quarter 2013.

The 50-bed hospital is slated to be up and running by first quarter 2014. The 55,000-square-foot design will feature all-private rooms, on-site therapy gym and cutting-edge rehab technologies.

“There are a number of long-standing comprehensive medical rehabilitation providers in the Greater Orlando market; however, the need is greater than what the current providers can serve,” said Linda Wilder, president of HealthSouth’s southeast region. When it comes on line, the hospital will add 140 full-time jobs to the region.

HealthSouth operates nine inpatient rehabilitation hospitals in Florida.  Construction is currently underway on similar facilities in Ocala and Stuart, Florida.
