Florida Governor Ron DeSantis issued a veto of SB 2-B – Immigration legislation from Special Session B of 2025.
In his transmittal letter for the veto, the Republican Governor said he vetoed this specific immigration legislation “because stronger, more aggressive bills have been produced that will further establish Florida as the nation’s leader in immigration policy.”
The Florida Governor also emphasized the priority of supporting President Donald Trump’s immigration efforts.
“President Trump has promised the largest mass deportation effort in American history, and with his reelection, we have an unprecedented opportunity to help the President make good on that promise,” Governor Ron DeSantis wrote. “This effort will require all hands on deck, and the State of Florida must lead in making resources and personnel across the state available to support the Trump Administration’s deportation mission.”
