Giant Loss

When I was doing my week one picks for the NFL season this game gave me plenty of anxiety. I went back and forth finally picking the defending Superbowl champs the New York Giants, fail.

What I over looked was the fact the Cowboys own September and well the Giants can be the most frustrating team  early in the season.

Jason Whitten who was cleared Wednesday after suffering a lacerated spleen during the pre-season only caught two passes but was an inspiration to the ‘Boys.

The reigning Superbowl champion was 5-0 in the opening game before the Giants 24-17 loss last night. The last coming for the ’99 Broncos.

“It was a medical clearance for Whittens availability,” Dallas coach Jason Garrett said.

Kevin Ogletree caught eight passes for 114 yards and two touch downs to lead the Cowboys offense.

Ogletree who is from Queens said, “I’m close to home so that helps but now Dallas is my new home.”

Now that Ogletree has secured himself as the third wideout for Dallas along with Dez Bryant and Miles Austin this offense is going to be hard to contain.

DeMarcus Ware recorded his 100th and 101st career sack on Eli Manning, while helping the Cowboys defense limit the Giants to just 269 yards of total offense.

The $50 million man Brandon Carr earned every penny holding the explosive Victor Cruz to just 6 catches for 58 yards and no touchdowns.

Eli Manning played efficient but it wasn’t enough, the two time Superbowl MVP finished 21 for 32 with 213 yards and one touchdown.

Dallas was mentally tougher, better on both sides of the football and look poised to make a run for the NFC East crown.

Tony Romo looked impressive, besides the one interception number 9 moved out side the pocket and avoided the Giants fierce pass rush.

Romo finished 22 for 29 with 307 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Then again it’s September and I’m sure the Giants are saying call us when it counts. I know I am.
