First GREEN Bank, a local bank, will open its newest location tomorrow, April 1st. Located at 862 S. Orlando Ave, the Winter Park branch is the fifth First GREEN Bank within Central Florida.

The branch is LEED Gold pending and aims to be a net-zero energy building, meaning the total amount of energy used by the bank on an annual basis is roughly equal to the amount of renewable energy created on site. This will be achieved with the help of features such as a well-engineered HVAC system, closed-cell foam insulation, highly efficient windows, high quality construction and the installation of more than 55 KW of solar to optimize energy performance.

Several key eco-friendly aspects were also installed on the interior including low-flow fixtures, waterless urinals, and a shower/changing room to encourage employees to walk or bike to work, no VOC emissions from construction materials and finishes, site-harvested Oak wood for flooring and countertops in the lobby, American Clay plaster, Interface recycled carpet for offices, and Energy Star-rated appliances. Customers of the bank are able to use one of the DC Nissan Fast Chargers, some of the first in the state, which can charge an electric vehicle to 80 percent in approximately 20 minutes.

First GREEN Bank will hold an exclusive professional mixer on April 22, also known as Earth Day, and a grand opening celebration at the Winter Park branch on April 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The celebration on April 26 is open to the public and will feature family-friendly activities, food from local restaurants and interactive sessions with animals from the Central Florida Zoo and the Audubon Society.
