FHP Search for Fleeing Mazda Driver who Struck Patrol Car


Troopers are trying to identify the driver of a vehicle that struck a Florida Highway Patrol car early on Thurday morning, then sped away.

An FHP trooper was conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle on University Boulevard and Heather Glen Boulevard around 2:15 a.m., when his patrol car was struck.

The trooper had stopped his marked Dodge Charger with all emergency lights activated, partially in the inside travel lane, behind the car that was being stopped, also partially in the inside travel lane.

As the trooper was talking with the violator, a light blue Mazda, traveling westbound on University Boulevard, struck the right rear side of the FHP patrol car and sped away.

FHP said, the Mazda will have damage to the left side.

The trooper nor the driver that he stopped was injured.
