While traversing around the “City Beautiful” of Orlando, or heading up I-4 East towards the “Home of the World’s Most Famous Beach” in Daytona Beach, (or for that matter most anywhere in Central Florida) you’ve likely seen the familiar symbol of the compass and square with the letter “G” in the middle.
Come, come now, surely you’ve seen these guys marching in parades and giving out turkeys at Thanksgiving haven’t you?
No doubt you’ve heard of the Shriner’s Hospitals and Burn Centers. Yep, Shriners are freemasons too. No doubt, you’ve observed masonic philanthropy in one way or another, whether you knew it or not.
Cyber rumor has it Barack Obama is a 32nd degree Prince Hall mason. I couldn’t find proof either way but reaching back further will reveal a scroll of at least 16 more presidential freemasons. In fact, of the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence, nine were masons.
You say you’ve still never heard of them? If nothing else, the average person has heard of their alleged involvement within the oppressive-minded New World Order organization known as the Illuminati. More on that later; there is entirely too much information available to cover it in any sort of short series but I shall make an attempt and pray I do not end up like William Morgan.
I hear the whispers. “Secret society, secret society.” As if you know exactly what went on behind those curtains before the new Pope Jorge Mario Bergoglio, known to us as Francis was revealed.
A Google search however, will reveal a wealth of information for those who prefer to become “book masons,” that is those who have never undergone an initiation into the order. With so much information readily available at one’s finger tips, where’s the secret? As we delve deeper into scuttlebutt, surely you will pick up on the farce portrayed by entertainer and recording artist Rick Ross, aka Officer Ricky Ross with his rap song “Freemasons.” Ross has gone on record stating he is not a freemason but the damage is done already…or not.
Indeed Ross’s song has landed him in trouble with the Gangster Disciples or “GD” for short. You really have to go to YouTube and dig that trash up for yourself.
My further research uncovered that GDs and members of the Masonic lodge share a common symbolism in the form of an “L” made with index finger and thumb extended. The two are unrelated. In fact the “L” is not a true masonic sign as revealed from members of the order.
I shall jump into some masonic information here to cement the fact that masons outnumber the GDs, no disrespect intended. GD was formed in 1969; the BGDN numbers between 40,000 and 50,000 members, masonry, all inclusive numbers at least 6 million. Simple arithmetic folks, although some hand gestures are similar, they are not the same organization.
According to information obtained from the MWUGL Prince Hall Masons for the State of Florida and Belize, in the Sunshine state, Masonry amongst Prince Hall lodges was established in 1870 through the efforts of Charles F. Dailey and the establishment of three lodges. Statehood arrived in 1845 (only 25 years prior). It is unclear whether Dailey knew those three lodges would be deemed irregular or clandestine by the Grand Lodge of England.
In 1877 was it “Resolved, that each State be of its own Sovereign head.” With this action being taken, the State of Florida was on its own to decide if it would go its own way or be affiliated with the other Prince Hall Bodies (still before statehood). In which the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge (MWUGL) State of Florida chose the latter and became Prince Hall Affiliated.
As mentioned above, in 1877 all the clandestine noise was killed…supposedly. However, as with churches and many other organizations, there was a degree of separation between Black and White. The lodge was not immune to racism.
