A detailed manifesto described a plan for a mass shooting at a Central Florida school.
According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s office, a 12-year-old was arrested for making written threats to kill, apparently due to bullying.
Overnight, the VSO Domestic Security Unit was notified of a detailed manifesto posted online. Local law enforcement said the manifesto described at length a plan to carry out a mass shooting due to bullying at Southwestern Middle School in DeLand, Florida.
Deputies acted quickly to investigate the threat and identify the student responsible.
12-year-old Josephine “Christian” Simmons-Peters was placed under arrest for making written threats to kill and misuse of a 2-way communications device, according to local law enforcement.
The VSO Behavioral Threat Assessment Unit will continue to monitor this case and intervene to prevent any acts of violence.
