A “significant amount of rocks” spilled on a Central Florida road causing a Lakeland traffic problem.
The Florida Department of Transportation said this incident serves as an important reminder to properly secure all loads before traveling. Loose materials can create serious conditions for other motorists.
In the morning between 7:30am and 8:30a.m., a significant amount of rocks were spilled on SR 37 near Christina in Lakeland in Polk County, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.
FDOT Maintenance crews responded quickly and worked to clear the roadway. At the time, traffic was reduced to one southbound lane as the cleanup operations continued.
After cleaning up the spilled rocks, all lanes were reopened.
“Drivers are encouraged to use caution in the area and allow for extra travel time,” FDOT posted at the time. “Thank you to our dedicated crews for their swift response and continued commitment to keeping our roadways safe.”
