A tip on a student threatening a Central Florida school shooting led to the arrest of a 15-year-old.
The Volusia County Sheriff’s office responded to a Fortify FL tip on the student who posted about shooting up his local high school, Atlantic High School in Port Orange.
According to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office, the 15-year-old was arrested for a felony.
“I can’t solve every issue out there that might cause a 15-year-old to post what he posted, Volusia Sheriff Mike Chitwood posted. “But I can guarantee we’re going to act quickly to protect the 99% of kids who just want to know they’re safe at school. Once again, parents, talk to your kids before they make this mistake.”
There have been several recent incidents around the state of Florida involving students threatening school shootings. Local law enforcement is making a stern warning that there will be consequences.
In another local case, a detailed manifesto from a 12-year-old student described a plan for a mass shooting at a Central Florida school.
