A Kissimmee man is in jail, accused of strangling his girlfriend to death, then burglarizing her home on Saturday.
Investigators arrested 36-year-old Alexis Velez-Medal of Quemar Drive, Kissimmee, and charged him the murder of his girlfriend, Dymarie Phiths, 39.
Velez-Medal, during an interview, told detectives he and Phiths were arguing and he strangled her at the residence.
Detectives say, just after 2:00 p.m. they went to 4782 Quemar Drive in Kissimmee where they found a deceased female, later identified as Dymarie Phiths inside her residence. Phiths’ vehicle was missing.
Detectives later located Phiths’ vehicle in South Orlando and identified Velez-Medal as a possible suspect.
Around mid-night on Saturday, Velez-Medal was arrested by Orlando Police Department officers on a trespassing charge, unrelated to the homicide.
Questioned by Osceola County detectives at the Orange County Correction Department, Velez-Medal confessed that he and Phiths were arguing and he strangled her at the residence.
Velez-Medal, after killing Phiths, burglarized a residence she owns on Highland Avenue, detectives said.
Velez-Medal is being held at the Orange County Jail, with no bond.
