Another Teen Arrested in Fatal Shooting of Mcferrel Jones

Jacques Broughton--suspect

A second teen has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of 18-year-old Mcferrel Jones.

Mcferrel Jones was gunned down in his car one week ago following an altercation at the intersection of Kirkman Road and West Colonial Drive.

The shooting occurred just after 1:00 a.m. on Monday, August 1.

Last Saturday, Orange County Sheriff’s deputies located a stolen vehicle in the vicinity of Hiawassee Road and Wautoma Place and initiated a felony traffic stop.  Once the vehicle stopped, a passenger exited and bolted, fleeing the scene on foot.

The passenger, later identified as 18-year-old Jacques Broughton was found in the backyard of one of the residences in the area.  He was carrying a business card of one of the homicide detectives in his pocket.

Jeremiah Pinkard--suspect

Deputies believe that Broughton got the card from someone who had already been interviewed in connection with Jones’ murder.

Broughton was taken into custody.  He has been charged with first degree murder in the death of Jones and resisting arrest, without violence.

On Wednesday, detectives arrested 17-year-old Jeremiah Pinkard of 4613 Wassee Court in connection with Jones’ murder. He was charged with first degree murder.

Investigators have not released a motive for the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing.
