Republican candidate Dan Green was added to the MAGA Majority program by the NRCC, targeting vulnerable Democrat and incumbent Rep. Darren Soto in Florida.
The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) today announced Dan Green is being added to the 2026 MAGA Majority program. The new 9th congressional district in Florida includes most of Osceola County, parts of Orange County and Polk County, and all of Highlands County, Indian River County, Okeechobee County, and Glades County.
“While Trump-backed Dan Green was fighting for our country in uniform, weirdo Democrat Darren Soto was serving himself as a taxpayer leech and creeping on young women. In Congress, Soto has peddled the left’s socialist agenda that hikes taxes, undermines safety, and forces Floridians to pay for policies they don’t want, like sex changes for kids,” said NRCC Spokeswoman Maureen O’Toole. “Dan Green will kick Soto to the curb in November and finally give Central Florida families the leadership they deserve.”
Dan Green is a decorated Navy veteran, former Trump administration appointee, and Indian River County native.
The MAGA Majority is an NRCC program focused on supporting and elevating the next wave of America First candidates who will help expand the Republican House majority in 2026.
Republicans plan to target the Democratic Congressman using his votes and positions. For example, the NRCC already has been pointing out how Representative Darren Soto voted to make life more expensive for workers, and the new congressional district makes his voting record a greater political liability in his reelection campaign.
The Central Florida seat will likely play a role in the control of Congress, and this race is a target for Republicans and Democrats.
