A Central Florida substitute teacher was recently arrested for showing explicit sexual content to students.
Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office detectives received a tip advising that the suspect, 26-year-old Tanaya Jordan, a substitute teacher at Pepin Academy in Riverview near Tampa, showed explicit content to two juvenile victims while at the school.
Detectives obtained a search warrant for Jordan’s cell phone and confirmed the content shown to the victims was on the device.
“It is unthinkable that an individual entrusted with shaping young minds would choose to betray that trust in such a horrific way,” said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Because of the courage of the victims and the diligence of our detectives, she will be held accountable for her actions.”
Earlier this month, Jordan was arrested and faced charges of: Sell or Distribute Obscene Material to a Minor (x6), and Unlawful Use of Two-Way Communications Device (x2).
This is an active investigation, according to local law enforcement.
