Casey May Have to Return to Orlando

Casey Anthony, acquitted last month of murdering her 2-year-old daughter, should have reported within 72 hours upon her release from jail to the Probation and Parole Office in Orange County, but that did not happen.

Well, that’s what Judge Stan Strickland wanted when he sentenced Anthony to one-year probation for fraudulent check writing, after she pled guilty in January 2010.  A mix-up by the state Department of Corrections on interpreting Strickland’s sentence allowed Anthony to serve the one-year probation while she awaited her murder trial.

On Monday, according to sources, Strickland amended an order to make clear that Anthony serves probation after her release from confinement.

According to the terms of Anthony’s probation, she is required to report to her probation officer no later than the 5th day of each month. She is not to change residence or employment or leave the county of her residence without first getting content of her probation officer.  Also, Anthony has been ordered not to contact Amy Huizenga, a former friend, whom she defrauded.  She must pay the State of Florida $20 per month toward the cost of supervision.

Anthony, who spent close to three years in jail and walked out last month, may have more to be concerned about than paying the cost of supervision.

Last Thursday, on top of other claims and lawsuits, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office wrote to the state attorneys office, seeking reimbursement of close to $300,000 for the cost of their investigation into the “disappearance” of Anthony’s daughter.  As was made clear by Anthony’s defense attorneys at trial, the toddler was dead even as the months-long investigation continued as deputies attempted to locate her.

Since being released from jail on the evening of July 17, Anthony has not been seen in public and is believed to be out of state.
