Brother of Man Swallowed by Sinkhole: ‘They Could Have Tried Harder’

A man whose brother died when a massive sinkhole opened up beneath his bedroom said Monday, authorities could have tried harder to get his brother out.

Jeffrey Bush, 37, was killed late on Thursday night when a sinkhole engulfed the bedroom in which he was sleeping in a home in Brandon near Tampa.

“I feel like they could have tried harder to get my brother out of there,” said Jeremy Bush, choking back tears as he stood in front of the home, myfoxtampabay.com reports. “That was my brother. No one is even talking about what my mom and dad are going through. They don’t want to be on camera. My mom and dad are going through hell right now.”

Authorities called off the recovery for Jeffrey Bush, after it became too dangerous and the sinkhole began to expand.  Over the week-end crews began to demolish the entire home, but not before taking out some of the family possessions.
