Arrests Made in Central Florida Fatal Shooting

Two individuals were recently arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in Seffner in Central Florida.

Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputies had responded to the 100 block of Phillips Drive following a 911 call reporting a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies discovered 31-year-old Michael Workman with a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

HCSO’s Aviation Unit was dispatched to assist ground units in tracking the suspect, 29-year-old Kristopher Bridges, when they located him at a convenience store parking lot in Temple Terrace.

According to law enforcement, deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, but Bridges intentionally struck a Sheriff’s Office vehicle and fled the area, prompting a pursuit that led into Thonotosassa.

Using the precision immobilization technique (PIT), deputies successfully stopped the vehicle. Bridges then attempted to flee on foot but was quickly taken into custody.

Bridges was initially charged with: Aggravated Fleeing to Elude, Aggravated Assault on Law Enforcement Officer with Deadly Weapon, Resisting Officer Without Violence, Reckless Driving with Property Damage or Personal Injury, Out of County Warrant CT1 Aggravated Assault-Weapon-W Deadly Weapon Without Intent to Kill, Out of County Warrant CT2 Possession of Weapon- or Ammo by Convicted Fla Felon, Aggravated Assault with Deadly Weapon, and Robbery with a Firearm ($750 or More but Less Than $20,000).

As a result of continued investigative efforts, detectives identified Bridges as the shooter in this case. Bridges was charged with the following additional offenses: First-Degree Murder with a Firearm (Premeditated), Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Tampering with Physical Evidence Relating to a Capital Felony.

A second suspect, 39-year-old Tara Weimer, was also identified as being involved in the incident. Weimer faced charges of Accessory After the Fact and Tampering with Physical Evidence Relating to a Capital Felony.

“When you choose violence in our community, you choose the consequences,” said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister. “There’s no excuse, no justification, and no way to avoid accountability. Our detectives worked quickly to deliver justice and ensure those responsible are held fully accountable for their actions.”

This remains an active investigation, according to local law enforcement.
