Dr. Phillips Charities Awards Grant to Seniors First for Remodeling

Seniors First's rennovation of west office on L.B McLeod Road, in full swing, August 1-5, 2011.

Seniors First, Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to helping the elderly live independently through programs like Meals On Wheels, was recently awarded a $375,000 grant from Dr. Phillips Charities.  The funds will be used to remodel Seniors First’s west office on L.B. McLeod Road.  Since combining services with VNA/Community Care for the Elderly in 2009, the nonprofit has operated out of two locations. Following the renovation, the consolidation of staff under one roof will centralize services, create staffing efficiencies and save expenses.

“A newly renovated building will quite literally open the door to equip and inspire our staff to efficiently provide services for seniors, disabled adults and their caregivers,” said Marsha Lorenz, president and CEO of Seniors First, Inc. “We are excited to begin construction and we are truly grateful to Dr. Phillips Charities for their philanthropy and support.”

Robert L. Mellen, III, president of Dr.  Phillips Charities added: “Dr. Phillips Charities has been a supporter of Seniors First for almost 30 years. We believe in its mission and are pleased to provide funding to improve its facilities and help them operate programs and services even more effectively and efficiently.”
