An investigation by Attorney General Bill McCollum has found that Office Depot overcharged governmental agencies for office supplies in violation of the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Practices Act. Under a settlement agreement, the company will pay approximately $4.5 million in refunds to eligible Florida customers, including government agencies.
Conducted by the Attorney General’s Economic Crimes Division, the investigation found that Office Depot switched certain local governmental agencies and private non-profit organizations in Florida from one pricing plan to another without their full understanding or knowledge, resulting in higher prices for those customers.
In addition to refunds, Office Depot will reimburse the Attorney General’s Office for its investigative costs and for costs associated with ongoing and future enforcement actions.
Office Depot has said that it will comply with the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act, going forward.
Office depot one of most popular in dealing of office supplies. That firm is caught for the mal practise and make it get such a high fine. Really very bad news. But it is fair they are paying for the wrong did.
