After local law enforcement received a call regarding mental health, a man was arrested for murdering his mother in Central Florida.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 36-year-old individual for homicide following a death investigation in Tampa.
In December, HCSO’s Communications Center received a call from 36-year-old Russell Antonio Moore, who made comments regarding his mental health.
Deputies were dispatched to Moore’s residence on Beaty Grove Drive in Tampa, where they met with Moore and interviewed him. During that interview, he made threatening statements about his mother, 54-year-old Shambray Lavern Levy.
Deputies located Levy deceased inside the residence with trauma to her upper body.
Moore was arrested at the scene and charged with Murder in the First Degree (Premeditated) and Tampering with Physical Evidence Relating to a Capital Felony.
“This is an incredibly heartbreaking and tragic situation for the family and everyone involved,” said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Our deputies acted swiftly to investigate, and an arrest has been made. Our hearts go out to the loved ones affected by this unimaginable loss, and we will do everything we can to support them during this difficult time.”
