Ten students from the Junior Achievement Academy for Leadership & Entrepreneurship recently traveled to Washington, D.C. to explore the inner workings of government and participate in a number of healthcare workshops. The students had an opportunity to meet with Congressman Daniel Webster and engage in dialogue about education, gun control, immigration and other regulatory issues currently being discussed in Congress. Florida Blue and Blue Cross Blue Shield sponsored the trip.

The new magnet school opened its doors in the fall of 2012 at the newly renovated Oak Ridge High School. The Academy’s program focuses on building economic insight and leadership talents, while also teaching an entrepreneurial approach to help students capitalize on future career opportunities.
