A top Democrat warned Wednesday, implementation of the Affordable Care Act, President Barack Obama’s signature healthcare law, is likely to be a huge train wreck.
Sen. Max Baucus (D-Montana), chairman of the powerful Finance Committee and a key architect of the healthcare reform law, said he fears not enough has been done to educate the American populace on various aspects of the law and how it will work.
“I just see a huge train wreck coming down,” he told Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius at a Wednesday hearing. “You and I have discussed this many times, and I don’t see any results yet.”
“I’m very concerned that not enough is being done so far — very concerned,” Baucus added.
Baucus attempted to get answers from Sebelius regarding how the Health Department will explain various aspects of the law and raise awareness of its provisions, set to take effect in the next few months.
