Deputies released on Monday, a composite sketch of one of the two suspects in the fatal shooting of a man inside an apartment complex on Friday night.
31-year-old Jeffrey N. Carpenter was gunned down around 11:30 p.m., as he waited to meet a friend at the Sun Key apartment complex, 4205 Long Key Lane in east Orange County, Carpenter’s girlfriend told investigators.
Carpenter’s girlfriend, who has not been identified, also said she and Carpenter were approached by two black male suspects as they waited and one of the suspects opened fire. The suspects fled the scene in a dark colored vehicle. Orange County investigators found Carpenter suffering from a gunshot wound and he was pronounced dead by Orange County Fire Rescue, shortly thereafter.
Today, homicide detectives released a sketch of one of the two suspects being sought. The sketch is of an individual who was not the shooter, investigators said. It is based on a description given by the Carpenter’s girlfriend.
Investigators have not said what might have motivated Carpenter’s murder.
