“Sneakers 2 Succeed” Shoe Drive Nearing Kick Off

The UCF Alumni Community Volunteers Chapter has teamed up with NBA Player Chris Duhon’s Stand Tall Foundation, the Art of Stepping, Orange County Public Schools, UCF Athletics, the City of Orlando and other Orlando-area service organizations to help homeless children and families in need through the “Sneakers 2 Succeed” shoe drive. During the month of March, citizens can help make a difference by donating new or gently used shoes to any of the drop-off locations listed below:

The “Sneakers 2 Succeed” shoe drive will benefit the following local agencies: Orange County Public Schools McKinney-Vento Program (MVP) and the City of Orlando’s Parramore Kidz Zone (PKZ).

The official kick off will take place at the March 2nd UCF v. Memphis Men’s basketball game. Donations will be accepted at the game as the Knights take on the Tigers at the UCF Arena. A collection will also occur at the PKZ Booth during the City of Orlando’s 7th annual Blues B-Q event taking place in downtown Orlando on Saturday, March 9 from 4-10 p.m.

“Sneakers 2 Succeed” is a project created by Chris Duhon’s Stand Tall Foundation, which was formed in 1998 by former Orlando Magic, now current L.A. Laker guard, Chris Duhon. It’s committed to building up children who are the foundation of our communities and based upon three main principles: Education, Welfare, and Recreation.
