During the dedication ceremony for Goodwill’s new Orlando Job Connection Center, the Wells Fargo Foundation awarded a $50,000 grant that will support the nonprofit’s workforce development programs. The grant is part of a $725,000 grant commitment to support nonprofits serving Orlando.
Goodwill’s Job Connection Centers offer a variety of job training and placement services like resume building, networking and mentoring to people with barriers to employment. In 2012, Goodwill served 27,518 people at its Job Connection Centers – and of those, the nonprofit was able to help 5,313 find jobs.
The grant is part of more than $3.5 million in funds committed to local nonprofits in four Florida cities through Wells Fargo’s NeighborhoodLIFT program. The initiative is meant to help further the local recovery of neighborhoods deeply affected by the housing crisis.
