Two people were killed when a passenger car traveling in the wrong direction on Highway 60 crashed into a tractor-trailer truck, Polk County authorities said.
The crash happened between 6:00 a.m. and 6:15 a.m., Wednesday, in the east bound lanes of Highway 60, west of Indian Lake Estates.
Authorities say, initial observations suggest a passenger car was traveling west bound in the east bound lanes when the collision occurred with a tractor-trailer truck which was heading east bound.
Fire erupted after the crash and two people were killed, authorities also said. Highway 60 was shut down in both directions.
Authorities are urging drivers to find alternative routes as Highway 60 could remain closed until later this morning.
