A motorcyclist died early this morning on Chase Road when he crashed into an oncoming vehicle, Florida Highway Patrol said.

40-year-old Brendon Thomas, of Winter Garden, was heading south on Chase Road, just before 2: 00 a.m., when he failed to negotiate a right curve in the road, troopers say.

Thomas traveled into the northbound lane and struck the front of a Honda Civic driven by Ngan Nguyen Pham, 46, of Orlando.  Pham was heading northbound on Chase Road approaching Jack Nicklaus Parkway.

Thomas was ejected off of the 2007 Honda motorcycle he was riding and pronounced dead at the scene.   There are unconfirmed reports that he might have been texting when the crash occurred.  He was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Troopers say, the crash remains under investigation.
