The Kissimmee Police Department’s SWAT Team placed 8th at the SWAT Round Up International Competition that took place December 2, 2012 through December 7, 2012 at the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Gun Range in Orlando. 51 teams from around the United States and Europe competed at the event.
The competition included events such as a hostage rescue, tower scramble, officer rescue and an obstacle course. The Kissimmee team scored well in all of the events. SWAT Round Up International celebrated its 30th year of competition. The week-long event included education and training seminars, a trade show along with the competition. The first SWAT Round Up Competition was held at the Kissimmee Police Department’s gun range 30 years ago.
Kissimmee’s SWAT team is a part-time specialty unit that has over 20 members, of those, eight makes up the competition team.
