Yesterday, incoming Orange County Tax Collector Scott Randolph said he was now leaning against running for state party chair next year. Randolph had said earlier this year he would seek the Florida Democrats’ top spot, before he jumped in the race to replace Earl K. Wood on the ballot for Tax Collector. While he is not completely ruling out any possibility, Randolph has indicated it is a priority to get a good grasp on his new office first.
The Orange County Tax Collector’s office has been groomed well during Earl K. Wood’s 47-year tenure, prior to his passing just before the Election this year.
One main reason the office runs as it does is Assistant Tax Collector Kelly Goodwin. As Earl K. Wood’s top deputy in the Tax Collector office, Goodwin has been instrumental in the operations at every level. She even answers the phone personally on the main office line. It is clear she is dedicated to the office and her job, serving Orange County residents. That’s why she hopes to stay in her position.
“I hope he keeps me on and I love my job,” said Goodwin in an interview on Friday. “I love what I’m doing. I would love to continue to serve in my capacity.”
Earl K. Wood even recruited Goodwin to be his successor and encouraged her to run for the Tax Collector office. Goodwin briefly qualified to run for the Tax Collector’s office this year. However, a last-minute stunt by former Orange County Mayor Rich Crotty during qualifying pulled Earl K. Wood out of retirement and back on the ballot. Goodwin did not want to challenge her boss, and dropped from the race just before the qualifying period ended. She added she would be “very excited” to work with Randolph.
Randolph has also said he will ask Governor Rick Scott to appoint him to take office earlier, since the office is now vacant. It could happen, but there’s no telling what this Governor will do or if he will decide to take no action.
Until then, Goodwin and the team currently in the office, will continue serving Orange County residents.
“Our office is doing what they do every day. And waiting to hear when Mr. Randolph will come,” she said.
Hey…the problem is that she is a Republican and insisted on running as a Republican when she was running, complicating things for everyone. This is not a County where Republicans can win on Presidential Ballot. They have to sneak in the back door.
Uh oh, she is better looking than Scott’s wife. Is keeping Kelly Goodwin as the top assistant going to be a problem with wifey?
Scott’s wife is beautiful inside and out. To imply that Scott would ever be disloyal to her is ridiculous.
Jesus tits this is a shit article.
Look Mike we get that you have some kind of issue with Scott, it’s thinly veiled at best. But to be honest, I could write a better story with my shit, smeared on the walls of an insane asylum. If you are going to make up an article to generate traffic, say that Buddy Dyer had an affair with Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
Or, you know, stop trying to be a reporter, which you clearly are not. Or you can try and be a reporter, if you actually get ideas for stories from someone other than Doug.
This Position should not be Partisan. They collect Taxes and send them to several agencies. Let’s see if this hyper-partisan Democrat can act in the Tax Payers’ Best Interest. He will have to swear-in as a Constitutional Officer….not a Party Boss, DOUG
Mike Cantwin only writes about Scott Randolph. Either he’s in heat and wants to roll naked in the hay with him to satisfy his lust, or he has a pathetic grudge that can only be cured with the help of an overpaid shrink. Which is it?
WTF!!! The piece isn’t about Scott Randolph, its about Goodwin wanting to keep her Earl Wood job. Gimme a fuckin’ break already with the Cantone obsession.
Do you guys have a Cantone fetish?
the West Orlando News is local media. Sometime they suck, sometimes they’re great, sometimes they’re even a little funny, but they’re always local.
Lighten the fuck up!
Where is your outrage about Dyer raising cash for Republicans?
What about the shoddy treatment, John, you dumb fuck, being dispensed by your ‘real’ reporters at the Republican controlled Orlando Sentinel, oh yeah those guys, the ones that backed the Tea Party, what about the racist pro-Zimmerman anti Rick Singh mentality over there? Oh yeah, thats right those guys are white male owned institutions, while WONO is woman owned, oh yeah, women are in this season, unless you say the word Randolph around here.
Where is your outrage about the way this city and county has totally fucked districts five and ? Lusting for Scott, or whoever you are I swear, you must be a dim wit
Do me a favor and shut the fuck up with your double standards. The people in Eatonville are still waiting for Scott to “come by”. They are the small town folks who will forever see him as he really is: typical orlando white guy
[…] to the Orlando Sentinel, Randolph claims Deputy Tax Collector Kelly Goodwin, whose job was on the line with Randolph’s election as Goodwin is a Republican with ambition to run countywide, hired him […]
