The Board of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority approved a nearly $446 million budget for operation of Orlando International Airport (MCO) and a $3 million budget for Orlando Executive Airport. The newly approved budget for MCO represents a 2.3 percent increase over 2012.
The board also approved ongoing upgrades to the existing baggage claim areas to the tune of nearly $5 million, the third phase of an existing carousel enhancement project. The upgrades are aimed at enhancing efficiency and baggage security for the traveling public.
The continued upgrades come in the wake of a recent surge of luggage thefts at the Orlando International Airport.
Last week, two people were arrested for stealing the baggage off carousels. Stephen Brown and Angel Campos were charged with grand theft and jailed, wftv.com reported.

On May 9th I landed at Orlando International Airport on Virgin VS 071 from Glasgow UK ,
On arrival I cleared customs and immigration replaced my 2 cases back on the belts and proceeded to the main terminal to collect my cases, there was almost an hours delay as the belt had stopped working, I retried my cases and went to my destination. On opening my cases a full sized computer hard drive was missing from my case, this must have been removed at Orlando airport, my case had no lock on as I have had my locks cut on many occasions at both Orlando airports. I arrived back in the UK June 1st and checked my home in case it had been left but it was packed and removed without my knowledge. Peter Gordon. UK
