There has been a lot of talk recently that the U.S. economy is starting to sprout ‘green shoots’ and that the recession has bottomed out.
However, Umair Haque, Director of the Havas Media Lab takes a different view. He bluntly says that Zombieconomy is not a buzzword; rather its reality as it describes the current state of the U.S. economy.
Haque says that 20th Century businesses cannot cope with the challenges of the 21st Century and as a consequence huge sections of the economy remain paralyzed.
To support his claim, he says that, notwithstanding the trillions that have been invested, wages are deflating, unemployment continues to grow and underemployment is growing faster than unemployment.
And says Haque, the reason why these numbers are going south is because of Zombie companies that are like living dead.
What can be done? Haque suggests that you look at his videos etc. on constructive capitalism.
