Community health centers in Florida will receive some $21 million in grant funds under the new health care law, the Affordable Care Act.
The grants are expected to serve about 41,000 new patients and will support rennovation and construction projects, boost health centers’ ability to care for additional patients and possibly create jobs.
The award is part of a $9.5 billion package to expand services over five years and $1.5 billion to support major construction and rennovation projects at community health centers.
Gov. Rick Scott has turned down nearly $100 million in federal grants tied to the Affordable Care Act, which the state is challenging in court.
