14 different players scored as DP Women’s Lacrosse blasted Ocoee, 20-2, to improve to 9-2 on the season. Katherine Breese led with four goals and two assists. Elizabeth Hales scored twice and posted six assists while Ravene Moore and Cymber Larkin scored twice as well. Solo goals were recorded by Sarah Hamp, J’Cara Denmark, Hayleigh Martin, Catherine Moffitt, Amira Khatib, Michaela Decker, Sydney Hughes, Min Jang, Jessica Clark and Asahi Hirano. Mia Emmerson finished with five saves in goal. DP has now won six straight and can clinch an undefeated Metro West Conference Championship April 13th vs. Edgewater.
Freshman Caitlyn Jones pitched a four-inning no hitter striking out eight of the 12 batters she faced in a 15-0 victory over the Jones Tigers. Offensively, Tai Griffith went 3-3 with a walk and three stolen bases and scored twice. Jones helped her own cause at the plate as well with a 3-3 performance, scoring twice. Gabby Hernandez went 3-3 and scored three runs and Allison Schwartz finished 3-3 with two runs scored. DP (12-6) will close out its Metro West Conference slate Wednesday at home vs. Edgewater.
Women’s Basketball (30-4), which wrapped up its season Saturday with a very strong runner-up finish in the ESPNHS National Invitational Tournament in Bethesda, Maryland, will be honored on the DP campus by MaxPreps Wednesday at 10:30 am in front of the Media Center. DP is one of only ten schools nationally to be recognized by the online publication in their Tour of Champions.
DP’s Metro champion Tennis teams are in action today and tomorrow in the District Championship at Lake Cane and top-ranked Flag Football team will host two games this week, today vs. Freedom and Thursday vs. Oak Ridge.
