Over a two-day run, Michael Jackson The Immortal World Tour created history at the Amway Center, by setting a new record as the highest-grossing event, $2,217,575, previously held by Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey®.

It was a riveting fusion of visuals, dance, music and fantasy that brought Michael Jackson’s powerful music and lyrics to life on February 28 & 29.  The state-of-the art facility, hosted 20,449 guests and was transformed into a visual spectacle that commemorated the King of Pop’s artistry and signature moves.

“Cirque du Soleil is world renowned for their superior, artistic entertainment. They never cease to amaze audiences; constantly pushing the limits of the imagination and creativity,” said Allen Johnson, executive director of Orlando Venues, in a statement. “This show is yet another example of the premium entertainment the Amway Center brings to Central Florida.”

Johnson made these observations, despite leaving out local small businesses, alienating minorities and excluding locally-owned media.
