An elementary school employee was arrested Tuesday on charges of possession of child pornography, Lake County Sheriff’s deputies said.
50-year-old old Mark A. Griffin, who was employed at Treadway Elementary School in Leesburg at the time of his arrest, has been charged with downloading and possessing illegal child porn material.
Cyber Crimes Unit investigators obtained a search warrant for Griffin’s residence after it was learned that the I.P. address responsible for the downloading of the illegal material was assigned to his home. Detectives met with Griffin at his residence where he confessed and identified computers in his home that he was using to download and view the child porn material. Griffin told detectives that he had downloaded over 500 files during the past six months.
Griffin was placed under arrest and transported to the Lake County Detention Center where he was booked in with a bond of $40,000.
It is not clear in what capacity Griffin was employed at Treadway Elementary School.
