The Florida Education Association (FEA) will announce at a press conference on Monday their intention to file lawsuits on a number of controversial new laws passed this legislative session.
At the top of their list was a teacher merit pay that links teacher salaries to test scores. That law goes into effect July 1, but most teachers won’t see salary changes until 2014.
Meyer said the law could violate a right to collectively bargain that is guaranteed in the state constitution.
Other new laws the group was examining include: expansion of voucher programs and the budget, which cut per-student funding by $542 dollars per student.
