The Color, the Sound, the Frenzy….it’s Carnival!

The revelry will begin again this Memorial Day weekend, Sunday May 29th, as the Orlando Cultural Association, Inc.(OCA) kicks off another carnival at Festival Field, across from the Citrus Bowl.  A major collaboration has taken place between Caribbean Airlines and the Orlando Carnival this year. As a result two people will win a trip to the Caribbean on Caribbean Airlines by attending Carnival and registering at the Caribbean Airlines booth.

The gates will open at 10:00 A.M for the festivities, which will include a variety of music of Caribbean origin, among which are Soca, Reggae, Calypso and Steel Band music. Entertainment will be provided by Iwer George, Leon Coldero & Code 868, Tizzy, Terry Gajraj, Rikki Jai, Giselle and many others to make it a carnival treat in the park in Orlando.

Flavorful Caribbean foods and goodies will be on sale, and a variety of vendors are expected to be in attendance. Among the sponsors for this colorful, cultural event are Caribbean Airlines, Spring Garden Restaurant, Caribbean American Passport Magazine, Kalla’s Caribbean Kitchen, MMI Health Care, Minute Man Press, Island Beat Radio, Johnstons Construction, Orlando Island Boys and Singh’s Jewelry World.

Promoters are anticipating that this year’s carnival will far exceed the previous years, both in attendance, scope and quality.

The “Carnival Party” was started in 1987 as the brainchild of Johnson Gilbert. Assisted by Mark Modeste, Gloria Chandler and Tina Stubbs, he guided this event from its infancy, and today, the Orlando Carnival has world-wide recognition.

Join the Orlando Carnival Crew downtown Orlando this Friday as they bring the message of Carnival to the party goers downtown in preparation for the Big Carnival on Sunday May 29th, 2011 at Festival Field opposite the Citrus Bowl.
