Deputies: Local Girl Shot in the Face by Boyfriend

Deputies believe that, an 18-year-old girl was shot in the face by her boyfriend early this morning, and not a drive-by shooter, as initially suspected.

Shanice Shoemo was shot in the driveway of her home on Frisco Circle in Orange County, as she stood with her boyfriend, 19-year-old Jervaughn Bonner.  The shooting took place around 12:45 am, on Thursday.

Early investigation led deputies to believe that Shoemo was shot by a drive-by shooter.

Bonner had told deputies he was standing with Shanice when a dark colored, four-door sedan, with dark tinted windows and no headlights drove by and several shots rang out. Bonner said one of the occupants of the vehicle fired several shots using a handgun, striking Shoemo.

But Orange County Sheriff’s Office GANG Unit Investigators have determined that Bonner is the alleged shooter and the person who shot Shoemo in the face.

Deputies said, it is not clear at this time why Bonner allegedly shot Shoemo.

Bonner is expected to be charged later today.
