Sebastian Man Crashes Motorcycle into Van, Dies

A 93-year-old driver died on Tuesday after he drove his motorcycle into the rear of a parked van on Bird Drive in Brevard County, troopers said.

Gordon Courchene, 93, of Sebastian, Florida, died of his injuries at the Holmes Regional Hospital on Tuesday, after crashing into the back of a 2007 Chevy van on Bird Drive near Oriole Circle.

Lynn Bedus, 37, of Barefoot Bay, the driver of the Chevy van, was parked on the side of Bird Drive waiting for the school bus at the time of the crash.   She suffered minor injuries and was taken to Sebastian River Medical Center.

Troopers say it is unclear why Courchene drove into the rear of Bedus’ van. Courchene was not wearing a helmet when he crashed his motorcycle around 2:45 pm today.
