Lake County to Host Senior Fest

The Lake County Elder Affair’s Council, along with the Lake County Health Department Medical Reserve Corps will be hosting the First Annual Lake County Senior Fest on Tuesday, Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Celebration of Praise Church, located at 3700 S. Highway 27, Clermont.

The Senior Fest is designed to provide opportunities for area seniors to be educated on resources available to them both in, and around, Lake County and will emphasize independence, self-sufficiency, volunteerism and more.

Over 60 exhibitors will be in attendance, and a variety of free health screenings will be available for all attendees.  A Senior Idol competition will be featured as well as a creative writing contest, with prizes being awarded in each competition.   The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Operation Medicine Cabinet, which safely collects and disposes of unwanted or expired ingestible medicines, vitamins or cough syrups, and Florida’s Blood Centers’ Big Red Bus will also be on site.

Additionally, a roaming fashion show will take place throughout the day featuring ensembles from local thrift shops.  Lunch will be available for $1 for the first 500 attendees.
