Orange County Sheriff Jerry L. Demings and City of Orlando Police Chief Val Demings will lead the 1st Annual “Cruising for the Kids” motorcycle ride and classic car parade on Sunday, November 7th from Orlando Harley-Davidson to Central Florida Fairgrounds benefiting the Orange County Police Athletic League (PAL).
“This ride and car parade not only brings together avid motorcycle riders and car collectors, but more importantly brings our community together for a great cause,” said Robert Gaye, PAL Board Member. “Cruising for the Kids” will allow us to raise funds and much needed awareness for the Orange County Police Athletic League.”
To kick off the weekend and the charity ride, Sheriff Jerry L. Demings and Police Chief Val Demings will be honored at an Island style gala at The Rosen Shingle Creek Hotel in Orlando, Florida. The Gala will be complete with an authentic Reggae band, 506 Crew, live and silent auctions, buffet dinner and cocktails. The Gala will begin at 6:30 PM on November 6, 2010. Sponsorship opportunities are still available and tables of 10 are $2,000.00.
“Cruising for the Kids” benefits the children of Orange County, who need a safe place to go after school. Covering 30 miles, the motorcycle ride and car parade begins at 10:00 AM from Orlando Harley-Davidson — arriving at the Central Florida Fairgrounds, 4603 West Colonial Drive, Orlando, Florida.
The Regular Rider Package is available for $40.00 per rider and $20.00 for each passenger. Riders will enjoy the police-escorted ride to the fairgrounds, a ride t-shirt, morning refreshments, a catered lunch and entertainment. VIP positions are available to ride with Sheriff Demings and Police Chief Demings in the front of the parade for $100.00 per rider/passenger.
The Mission for PAL is to provide organized activities under the supervision of law enforcement. Keeping kids in the gym and off the streets. The Orange County Police Athletic League is a juvenile crime prevention program that provides athletic, recreational and educational activities to at-risk children. PAL uses law enforcement officers as coaches, mentors, instructors and role models to encourage youngsters to avoid crime, drugs, gangs and violence, and to influence them to become healthy, productive and law-abiding citizens.
