Man arrested in Shooting Death at Woodhollow Apartments

Orange County Sheriff’s deputies on Thursday arrested a man in Marion County, wanted in connection with the shooting death of a woman last Friday at the Woodhollow Apartments on Kingsgate Drive.

Jean L. Touze--arrested, charged with first degree murder

Homicide investigators arrested Jean L. Touze, 31, for the shooting death of Kindra Maurice, 21 years.  Touze was arrested in Marion County without incident and has been transported to the Orange County Jail.

Investigators say Touze and Ms. Maurice had been involved in a lengthy relationship and have a 14-month-old son.

On May 21st, Orange County Sheriff’s Office were called to 5716 Kingsgate Drive at the Woodhoow Apartments around 1:15 pm.  A  witness advised that he saw a man and woman arguing outside the apartment. Then the man forced the woman inside the apartment and the witness said he heard what he believed to be a gunshot.

Investigators found Kindra Maurice, the victim of the shooting, seriously injured inside the apartment.  Touze and Maurice’s  young toddler was also inside the apartment, but not harmed.  Maurice was transported to the Orlando Regional Medical Center where she later sucuumbed to her injuries.

Since the shooting detectives have followed up on numerous leads and tips, leading to Touze’s arrest earlier today in Marion County.  He has been charged with first degree murder.

Touze has a criminal record going back to 2006 and was previously arrested for possession of cannabis, grand theft, driving with a suspended license and carrying a concealed firearm.
