A Central Florida 7-year-old was recently found deceased in water after running from home.
“We are saddened to report that we have recovered Charlie’s body from the water,” the Volusia County Sheriff’s office stated. “This is the tragic outcome we all worked so hard hoping would not come to pass. We appreciate all the shares, the community support and the assistance from all our partner agencies in this effort.”
Deputies were looking for the missing 7-year-old Deltona boy who had autism and ran off from home. Law enforcement said Charlie ran north on Stillwater Avenue in Deltona around 8pm. Charlie was non-verbal.
At the time he was lost, law enforcement warned he may be attracted to Christmas lights as well as bodies of water.
Deputies actively searched the area and brought in additional resources to aid in the search, including K-9s on the ground assisting. A reverse 911 call was sent to area residents and Charlie’s photo was provided to area businesses.
