A Jamaican man was arrested in New Zealand and charged with four counts relating to a bomb scare on December 9th, according to The Dominion Post site.
Paul-Martin Williams, 34 years old, of Kingston, Jamaica is also charged with threatening to kill a bank employee and her family; demanding $100,000 with intent to steal it and threatening to cause significant property damage, namely, to “blow up the bank.”
Following the bomb threat, Williams fled to Sydney, Australia, but was extradited to New Zealand to answer the charges.
At the time of the bomb scare, streets were shut down, with traffic being re-routed for several hours. However, no bomb was found.
Williams entered no plea and was remanded in custody. His next court appearance is set for January 29th
If convicted, Williams would likely serve his jail time in New Zealand. He faces a maximum of up to 20 years in jail, if found guilty.
