Civil rights leader and prominent national politician John Lewis, who has served as U.S. Representative for Georgia’s 5th congressional district since 1987, endorses Gwen Graham in the Democratic primary for Florida Governor. The announcement further emphasizes the battle between Graham and Andrew Gillum for the Democratic nomination.
“Gwen is a champion for the progressive values so many of us share, and I am proud to give Gwen Graham my strongest endorsement for Governor of Florida,” Congressman Lewis said.
Lewis and Graham worked together in Washington D.C. while both serving in Congress.
“Marching with him to mark the anniversary of Bloody Sunday, sitting in with him to demand commonsense gun reform, and fighting for voting rights with him are among my proudest moments while representing Florida in Congress,” Graham added.
